Assistant Project Manager – Light Industrial Design-Build

About the Opportunity

A growing design-build contractor is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join their team. This position will support the planning and execution of light-industrial construction projects, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with the overall administration and execution of design-build projects.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Assist with project schedules, budgets, contracts, and procurement.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Track project costs, commitments, invoices, and budget updates.
• Assist with subcontractor buyout and scope coordination.
• Prepare and distribute project documentation and meeting minutes.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain clear communication with project stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress and help identify potential schedule or cost issues.
• Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
• Assist the Superintendent with project logistics and field coordination as needed.
• Support quality control and project closeout activities.
• Maintain accurate project records using construction management software.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial construction experience in an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or similar role.
• Experience with light-industrial, warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or commercial construction preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, contracts, schedules, and project administration.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
• Design-build experience is a plus.
