    Assistant Project Manager
    Location: Englewood, CO
    Job Type: Long-Term Contract

    We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support transmission and distribution (T&D) projects for our client in Englewood, CO. This position will support the planning and execution of substation, transmission line, and telecommunications projects from initial development through engineering, construction, and closeout.

    The ideal candidate will have utility transmission project experience and a strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, construction sequencing, and coordination across multidisciplinary project teams.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support and lead cross-functional teams executing substation, transmission line, and telecommunications projects from inception through design, construction, and closeout.

    • Manage multiple projects concurrently across varying sizes, complexity levels, and voltages ranging from 4kV to 765kV.

    • Monitor project schedules, identify risks, and coordinate requirements to achieve established in-service dates.

    • Support projects through client gate approval processes and assist with presentations to senior and executive management.

    • Maintain project cost forecasts, including committed and uncommitted costs and estimate-at-completion projections.

    • Coordinate construction, testing, and other field activities with client-approved contractors and vendors.

    • Maintain project data, reporting, schedules, budgets, and regular status updates.

    • Coordinate with project controls, engineering, construction, real estate, environmental, public engagement, and other project stakeholders.

    • Facilitate project meetings and track action items through completion.

    • Support development of multi-year capital expenditure plans for transmission and distribution infrastructure.

    • Coordinate with project sponsors to establish project scope, business justification, schedules, budgets, and need-by dates.

    • Review engineering estimates, project change requests, scopes, schedules, and budgets.

    • Assist with financial setup and coordination with client accounting teams.

    • Prepare project analyses and reports used to track portfolio performance and project execution.

    • Support development of baseline scopes, schedules, and budgets for stakeholder approval.

    • Assist with construction sequencing and outage planning for transmission and substation projects.

    • Review project documentation to determine construction requirements and project boundaries.

    • Participate in site walkdowns and project coordination meetings to develop achievable construction sequences and outage plans.

    • Evaluate planned outages against adjacent work and other scheduled outages within the electrical grid.

    • Coordinate with engineering and drafting resources to document construction sequencing and project progression from existing conditions through final configuration.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program.

    • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in utility transmission projects, including transmission line and/or substation projects, or closely related industries.

    • Internship experience does not count toward the required years of professional experience.

    • Experience supporting or managing multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Understanding of utility project lifecycles, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

    • Knowledge of project scheduling, cost management, forecasting, and project controls.

    • Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering, construction, project controls, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous electric or gas T&D engineering experience with an interest in transitioning into utility program/project management.

    • Experience with ProjectWise, SharePoint, SAP, or similar project management systems.

    • Experience with utility outage planning and construction sequencing.

    • PE or PMP certification.

    Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future sponsorship.
