Assistant Fund Controller

A leading alternative asset manager is seeking an Assistant Fund Controller to join its Boston-based finance team. This is an in-office role supporting a diverse platform spanning multi-strategy investments.

The Assistant Fund Controller will oversee fund control and operations across existing and new funds with significant exposure to senior investment, client relations, operations, and compliance teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee third-party administrators, banks, auditors, and other service providers
  • Manage fund NAVs, financial statements, investor reporting, audits, and regulatory filings
  • Coordinate valuation processes and support investment valuation reviews
  • Partner with Investment and Client Relations teams on financial and investor deliverables
  • Support treasury, budgeting, vendor payments, and investor redemptions
  • Lead operational execution for new fund and product launches
  • Identify and implement improvements to fund operations and the broader operating model
  • Serve as a key point of contact across internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CPA highly preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in private markets finance/operations, fund accounting, or a related function
  • Experience with open-ended funds and/or alternative investment strategies
  • Strong partnership accounting and technical accounting knowledge
  • Experience overseeing third-party administrators and/or fund audits
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets
  • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
