    Job Summary:

    The Assistant Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness Promotion-Competitive Sports supports Texas Christian University Campus Recreation & Wellness Promotion through directly supervising the Coordinator of Competitive Sports. The Assistant Director assists the Associate Director in the daily direction of multifaceted Intramural and Sport Club programs, including supporting student leaders who oversee Sport Club student-run organizations and students to implement Intramural Sports to the TCU community.

    Duties & Essential Job Functions:

    1. Manages the Coordinator of Competitive Sports by conducting weekly meetings related to discussing budgets, upcoming needs, and schedules on a regular basis.

    2. Assists the Associate Director of Competitive Sports in the management of Sport Clubs by maintaining designated Sport Club budgets with TCU financial architecture, meeting with designated Sport Club leaders on a regular basis and assisting Sport Clubs with national governing body policies and regional league requirements.

    3. Supports Sport Clubs by ensuring that physical risk is mitigated with proper safety officers, insurance and required training, supports planning and creates accountability for all club travel, contributes to the selection, recruitment, and training of any coaches, and aids in purchasing processes and decisions.

    4. Maintains safety of Sport Club equipment; coordinates weekly meetings with supervisors by scheduling and holding meetings to discuss and resolve current issues.

    5. Guide the general operations of Intramural Sports

    6. Supervises student workers by training student assistants in scheduling, discipline, assessment and budgets; evaluates all student employees; prepares payroll. Provides special opportunities for staff development for the student staff through meetings, retreats, and other activities.

    7. Represents Campus Recreation & Wellness Promotion by serving on departmental and division committees for student development.

    8. Serves as a campus resource for other programs to enhance the use and visibility of the Rec Center as a major campus resource.

    9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications

    10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Education & Experience:

    • Masters' degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sport Management or a closely related field or equivalent in experience.
    • 2 plus years' experience in recreational programming at the university level (completion of a graduate assistantship may be included as applicable experience)

    Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

    • Valid Texas Driver's License.
    • Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

    • None

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of communications, presentations and interpersonal relationship techniques.
    • Knowledge of scheduling techniques.
    • Knowledge of customer service techniques.
    • Skill in staff and student staff scheduling.
    • Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office.
    • Skill in developing and scheduling all intramural and sport clubs.
    • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and assess student officials.
    • Ability to manage a budget.
    • Ability to establish priorities.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.

    Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

    • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
    • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
    • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
    • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
    • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

    Work Environment:

    • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
    • This role is an on campus, in-person position.
