Position Overview: The Assistant Designer is a creative and technically strong designer with a primary emphasis on graphic design and visual storytelling. Working directly with the President and Founder, and Lead Designer, this role supports the execution of the brand’s creative vision across seasonal collections, core programs, and special projects. The Assistant Designer will be responsible for producing original graphics, prints, and artwork that define the brand’s aesthetic — while also supporting broader product design, tech pack development, and the day-to-day design workflow. The ideal candidate is creatively driven, highly organized, and fluent in Adobe Creative Suite with a strong eye for typography, illustration, and graphic composition. Essential Job Functions:
Graphic Execution: Conceptualize and create original prints, placements, and repeat patterns across all categories (apparel to accessories) from initial concept to production-ready files.
Design Support: Translate mood boards and references into cohesive product designs; assist in building SKU-level assortments and maintaining design calendars.
Technical Production: Develop detailed tech packs and coordinate with factories on graphic approvals, strike-offs, and quality control.
Collaboration: Partner with Marketing and Social teams for visual consistency; work with Production to ensure artwork feasibility and margin targets.
Assist in building and maintaining SKU-level designs in alignment with merchandising plans and seasonal assortments.
Contribute to design and development calendar management to ensure milestones are met.
Team Operations:
Collaborate with cross-functional team members to execute projects.
Contribute to the creation, implementation, and refinement of new systems and initiatives.
Perform additional duties/tasks as needed or requested by management.
Qualifications:
2-4 years of apparel or graphic design experience in a fashion environment.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; working knowledge of additional Adobe Creative Suite tools.
Strong graphic sensibility with demonstrated experience in typography, illustration, print design, and apparel graphics.
Understanding of apparel construction, tech pack development, and production processes a plus.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication skills and ability to take and incorporate creative direction.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced, founder-led environment.
Portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design work across apparel or brand applications required.
Proven ability to perform under deadlines, to adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements.
Must be an effective team player.
Responsive and available to support business needs outside of standard working hours when required.
Desired Skills:
Prior experience in a lifestyle, fashion, or creative brand environment is strongly preferred.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fashion Design, or equivalent experience preferred.
