Assistant Buyer

We are supporting our client on a search for an Assistant Buyer in NYC on an on-site schedule. This is the seat where you learn merchandising from the inside - assortment planning, vendor management, sample tracking, and hindsighting - reporting into a Senior Buyer.

Ideal for someone 0-2 years into retail, fashion, or CPG merchandising with sharp Excel chops and real product sense. The team promotes coordinators to Associate Buyer within 18-24 months.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Buyer on assortment planning, pricing, and vendor selectionTrack samples, purchase orders, and shipment status across the calendarPrepare buy sheets, hindsighting reports, and weekly performance summariesOwn vendor communication - order confirmations, shipping windows, changesAttend market appointments and take detailed product notesCoordinate with planning, allocation, and stores on flow and issues

Requirements

• 0-2 years in retail, fashion, or CPG merchandisingStrong Excel - pivots, VLOOKUP, index/matchSharp attention to detail and follow-throughComfort managing 30+ open threads with vendors and internal teamsProduct sense and a real interest in the categoryBachelors in fashion, business, or equivalent hands-on experience
