Who You Are:
As asset management counsel you will join an experienced and collaborative Legal team to primarily work on supporting the Galaxy Asset Management team. You will support the legal and compliance functions of Galaxy Asset Management across the full spectrum from formation, launch and management of private funds to the investments pursuant to which such funds deploy client capital. The ideal hire should have at least five to seven years of experience at a large law firm's private investment funds group or in-house on asset management legal and investment issues, credit risk, fund formations, private venture-style investments, hedge funds and other active and passive investing strategies.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have meticulous attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to produce high quality work product in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where multiple projects may be active simultaneously
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant prior experience with a large law firm or in-house in a credit risk, private investment and/or funds formation or asset management counsel capacity
Experience and knowledge with legal issues present for asset managers and Registered Investment Advisors, including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, applicable SEC and CFTC rules and regulations, fund structuring (onshore and offshore), conflict of interest management and allocation of investment opportunities across multiple funds and fund types including private funds, ETFs and '40 Act funds
Ability to navigate and manage transactions involving multiple parties, financial structures and unique terms and conditions
Interest in issues relating to digital assets is required; experience and/or prior knowledge in the space is a plus
Highly motivated, self-starter who takes initiative.
Positive attitude, and willingness to roll up sleeves (no job too big, no job too small).
Collaborative team member with a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Active membership in the NY state bar

The base salary ranges included below will be commensurate with candidate experience, expertise and local market. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise. At Galaxy, we maintain a total compensation philosophy which consists of a competitive base salary, annual bonus, and equity incentives.
Base Salary Range
$150,000—$225,000 USD
