Overview This is a backfill hire supporting a live trading environment. The team is looking for someone who can function as a real trade floor / live trading support engineer, not someone who simply coordinates issues to vendors or acts as a liaison. The key distinction is hands-on ownership in a live electronic trading setting.
The role requires a candidate who understands FIX, OMS/EMS systems, and live order flow, and who can troubleshoot issues directly under pressure. The hiring manager is specifically trying to avoid candidates whose support experience is passive, overly vendor-reliant, or post-trade / analytical rather than live operational support. What the Client Wants
Someone who is technical and hands-on
Must have experience supporting live trading
Strong FIX connectivity knowledge
Strong OMS / EMS support background
They do not want someone who only coordinates with vendors or says call the vendor
They want someone who can solve problems directly
Needs to understand live order flow and support real-time trading issues
They want a true SME, not someone who only reviews issues after the fact
Strong communication is important, including desk-facing or client-facing support presence
Market structure knowledge across equities / options is important
Candidate should be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
