Position Summary
The Physical Education Teacher is a cornerstone of Lawrence Public Schools. As a Physical Education Teacher your area of expertise will be used to enrich the academic lives of the students at Spark Academy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Take responsibility to be a strong positive force daily in their classroom - consistently and thoughtfully motivate students to work hard and want to learn.
• Design implement and collaborate around high-quality shared curricula that incorporate research-based strategies to help students master Massachusetts and Common Core standards.
• Motivate students to reach high achievement by setting class-wide and individual goals and provide specific and actionable feedback to students on their progress towards academic goals.
• Build supportive working relationships with fellow teachers associate teachers and staff and provide regular feedback to help develop associate teachers.
• Other responsibilities as needed and assigned by administration.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
• Prior experience teaching physical education preferred.
• Ability to implement a safe purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students.
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers instructional leaders and partners to ensure instruction is meeting the needs of all students.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Massachusetts Teacher Certification in appropriate area.
• Proficient in English.
• Bachelors Degree Required
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
