    Job Description:

    AI DEVELOPER

    GENERAL SUMMARY

Etherio is a professional services firm that partners with associations and corporations to deliver exceptional experiences and outcomes — through association management (AMC), meetings and events, and specialty conference work. We support client organizations across a range of industries with a team of more than 200 people nationwide.

We've been building our AI capability since late 2024 — training staff on AI tools, developing automated workflows with outside development partners, and strengthening our data foundation through a recent enterprise systems implementation. We're making plans now to roll Claude out company-wide. We have real momentum, and we need someone who can help us accelerate and scale it.

Our approach is grounded in a simple principle: AI handles the throughput, people own the relationship. Both of our business lines are fundamentally human-intensive and relationship-driven. Your job is to compress the operational and back-office work so our team members can spend more time on the creative, strategic, and relationship work that clients value most.

    WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT

The person we're looking for knows how to extract knowledge from busy people efficiently — through sharp questions, observation, existing artifacts, and pattern recognition — and translate it into AI-ready systems with minimal burden on staff. You reduce the load on your colleagues rather than adding to it. You're as comfortable in a 30-minute discovery conversation with a senior account director as you are building a prompt chain or designing an automated workflow.

Think of yourself as part internal consultant, part systems designer, part AI builder. The rarest version of all three in one.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Design and Scale AI-Powered Workflows

You'll take ownership of a growing set of priority workflow initiatives across our practices — starting with a few clearly defined areas and expanding based on impact — and help identify what comes next.

    • Define and build workflows that non-technical staff can use and maintain without ongoing support

    • Document those solutions and their maintenance requirements

    • Teach power users as they emerge how to extend and adapt automations on their own

Serve as Internal AI Translator and Enabler

You'll be the connective tissue between our AI strategy and our operational teams. That means spending real time with account managers, association professionals, meeting planners and others — understanding how they work, where the friction is, and where AI can help most.

    • Conduct structured discovery sessions with staff to identify workflow improvement opportunities

    • Translate business needs into AI system requirements — and AI capabilities into plain-language value for staff

    • Support staff adoption of Claude through training and hands-on guidance

    • Leverage Claude Code and connected systems to develop and deploy AI agents and automations that require more specialized skill than is reasonably practical for our frontline team members to attain

    • Recognize and flag when a specific initiative needs specialized outside build support (e.g., BI platform architecture, as an example)

    ESSENTIAL AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential

    • Demonstrated experience extracting and systematizing knowledge from subject matter experts in a professional services or consulting environment

    • Hands-on experience building AI-powered workflows and automations — not just prompting, but designing systems that other people use

    • Working technical fluency: comfortable reading and writing basic scripts or structured prompts/prompt chains, and troubleshooting when an automation breaks

    • Strong business analysis skills: you can go from a 30-minute conversation to a clear requirements document

    • Comfort working across technical and non-technical audiences — translating in both directions

    • Self-directed and organized

    Strongly Preferred

    • Experience developing automated workflows and dashboards with Claude or Claude Code

    • Experience with APIs and system integrations, or workflow automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n, or similar)

    • Experience in software development lifecycle including UAT and feature enhancement methodologies

    • Familiarity with AI agent frameworks and prompt engineering

    • Experience in a comparable client services environment

    • Experience working alongside or managing outside development resources

    • Exposure to knowledge management systems, enterprise AI platforms and basic BI/analytics tooling

    • Experience with Workday or similar enterprise platforms a plus

    The Intangibles

You are known for making busy people feel like you didn't waste their time.

You build things that actually get used — not polished decks about things that could be built.

You are energized by ambiguity, not paralyzed by it.

You know the difference between the next shiny AI tool and the right next step.

    WORKPLACE LOCATION REQUIREMENTS

Remote or Hybrid (working as a combination of remote and in-office presence) as well as the possibility of being onsite at client and/or event locations.

    SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

Requires flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client, event, or company needs.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.

    • Must be able to remain either in a stationary sitting position for extended periods (such as when working in the office), while also being able to stand and/or move for extended periods (such as when executing events onsite).

    • Need to lift, carry, push, or drag boxes or equipment up to 30 lbs.

    • Frequently moves inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.

    • Need to adapt and function in various physical settings (for example, conference centers, indoor and outdoor spaces).

    • Occasionally required to position self in a stooping, kneeling, or crouching manner.

    • Frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

    • Frequently uses computers and other electronic equipment.
