After School Program Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists students in assigned tasks at the after-school program as directed by the teacher or the after-school program coordinator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports the lead teacher in the management of the after-school program at a specific school site.
• Participates and assists with the activities of students enrolled in the after-school program.
• Supervises students on the playground and indoors to maintain safety and security for students.
• Operates and instructs students on the use and care of equipment utilized in the after-school program.
• Assists with general cleaning duties as assigned.
• Assists with attendance and ensures students leave with approved parties.
• Informs instructional staff of student progress and reports matters of concern.
• Prepares appropriate materials to be used for instruction as directed by teachers.
• Assists in the coordination and distribution of afternoon snacks.
• Develops and maintains professional relationships with students and parents/guardians.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by administration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Capable on a continuous basis: standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, twisting, repetitive movement of both hands seeing with both near and far visual acuity.
• Capable on a frequent basis: walking and moving, climb stairs, lifting from floor to waist (up to #50), lifting from waist to shoulders (up to #25).
• Capable on an occasional basis: pushing, pulling, and lifting from shoulders to overhead (up to #25).
