Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
The Administrative Support Specialist provides comprehensive professional support to the academic program leadership team overseeing the professional Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, as well as the Master's and Undergraduate programs at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. This position also serves as the initial point-of-contact for incoming inquiries about the programs and is responsible for filtering and prioritizing communications to ensure alignment with the academic programs' missions and goals.
The primary responsibilities include managing calendars and correspondence, coordinating meetings and events, and assisting with regular and special projects for the Associate Dean for PharmD Curricular Strategy and Assessment, the Associate Dean for Masters and Undergraduate Programs, and the Assistant Dean for Didactic Curriculum and Individualization. The Administrative Support Specialist proactively tracks and reports on projects as needed, ensuring the efficient execution of priorities. With a high degree of autonomy, this role involves independent problem-solving, analyzing and prioritizing complex information, and making critical recommendations regarding workflow and communications. Operating with the highest level of professionalism and discretion, the Administrative Support Specialist must navigate evolving priorities, manage sensitive information, and facilitate timely execution of tasks in a dynamic environment.
The Administrative Support Specialist plays an integral role in the strategic and operational success of the PharmD, Master's, and Undergraduate programs by ensuring the effective management of administrative responsibilities, facilitating communication and collaboration, and driving forward key initiatives that support the mission of the School.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
