Reporting to the chair of the Community Health and Wellness department, the Administrative Coordinator will perform, but is not limited to, the following duties: Coordinate front desk operations and serve as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and community partners; provide general information regarding CHW academic programs, courses, departmental services, resources, and student support; welcome and direct students and visitors to appropriate faculty, staff, campus offices, or resources; Assist with managing student service flow, appointments, inquiries, and departmental communications; Prepare, copy, assemble, organize, and distribute departmental materials, forms, flyers, informational packets, and other documentation; coordinate office materials, supplies, equipment, and inventory and submit requests for replenishment as needed; assist with maintaining current departmental information on websites, electronic platforms, and other communication channels; Assist with preparing administrative reports, spreadsheets, presentations, flyers, and other departmental documents; Assist with administrative processes related to course scheduling, enrollment, registration, faculty support, and departmental academic operations; assist with collecting, organizing, and maintaining data needed for departmental reports, surveys, assessments, grants, and program initiatives; Maintain and update departmental tracking documents related to courses, students, faculty, internships, events, and other departmental activities; Support the coordination of student internships, experiential learning activities, and other program-related administrative processes; Assist with coordinating departmental events, workshops, recruitment activities, student engagement initiatives, and special projects; Assist faculty and department leadership with implementation of departmental initiatives, grants, projects, and student success activities; assist with documenting departmental activities and maintaining records of participation, outcomes, and follow-up; Support outreach activities designed to increase student awareness of CHW programs, services, resources, and opportunities; QUALIFICATIONS . Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students. 

Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. The Administrative Coordinator would typically support the department’s daily operations, assist with academic and administrative functions, and serve as a liaison between faculty, students, and other college departments. Their responsibilities include a mix of clerical, project management, and departmental support tasks tailored to the department's unique academic and service-oriented mission. The role contributes to maintaining a welcoming, organized, and student-centered environment while supporting the overall administrative and operational effectiveness of the department. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit administration, customer service, or a community health setting.
  • Proficient in office software and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Google Docs, etc.
  • Familiarity with CUNY systems such as CUNYFirst, SharePoint, and other institutional platforms.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong time management skills with experience meeting multiple project deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and focused, with superior follow-through and keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and complete complex administrative tasks independently.
