Responsibilities

The Activities Coordinator provides small and large group activities designed to meet the needs and interests of each resident and that include social activities, indoor and outdoor activities, activities away from the facility, religious programs, creative activities, educational activities, and exercise activities. Assists with documentation of social activities. Interviews the resident, documents, keeps up the quarterly charting, and, at times, assists with social activities.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required

Experience

One of the following is required:

  • Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one year of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.

  • Be an occupational therapist, art therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, recreation therapist, or occupational therapy assistant.

  • Have satisfactorily completed at least 36 hours of training in a course designed specifically for this position and approved by the facility and shall receive regular consultation from an occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, or recreation therapist who has at least one year of experience in a health care setting.
