Accounting Supervisor

Kforce has a client that is seeking an Accounting Supervisor in Baltimore, MD. Summary: We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and team performance. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining strong internal controls, managing the month-end close process, and leading a team of accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience, proven people leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to resolving complex accounting issues. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee general accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
• Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies, backlogs, and complex reconciliation issues
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and organizational policies
• Monitor accounting workflows and ensure timely completion of deliverables
• Support annual audits and provide required schedules and documentation
• Partner with leadership to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and increase operational efficiency
• Prepare financial analyses and reporting packages for management
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and special projects as needed
• Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the accounting team

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or management responsibilities
• Strong nonprofit accounting experience required
• Proven experience managing, mentoring, and developing accounting staff
• Extensive reconciliation experience, including researching discrepancies and making necessary adjustments
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and accounting controls
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with team leadership
• Ability to work independently and drive results with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA certification or CPA candidate
• Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting requirements
• Experience with ERP or nonprofit accounting systems
• Experience improving accounting processes and operational efficiencies
