Description

A well-established San Diego organization is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys leading teams, improving processes, and managing month-end close in a collaborative environment.

Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days onsite / 1 day remote
Pay: $42-$55/hour DOE

Key Responsibilities

Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
Manage and mentor a small accounting team
Review financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
Ensure GAAP compliance and support internal controls
Assist with audits, grant reporting, and process improvements
Partner with leadership on financial analysis and operational initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Accounting management or supervisory experience (years flexible)
Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
Some exposure to fund accounting preferred
Advanced Excel skills
Experience with MIP Accounting Software and Salesforce required
Strong communication and leadership skills

Nice to Have

CPA or Master's degree
Nonprofit and/or grant accounting experience
Experience implementing process improvements
