Core Responsibilities:
As an Accounting Analyst Supervisor, you will:
- Provide leadership and management while developing analytical staff in their accounting skills, technical skills, and overall job knowledge.
- Provide accounting, cash management, revenue/expenditure monitoring/reporting, and analysis resulting in accurate grant management.
- Reconcile complex accounts, prepares financial information, formulates corrections and makes adjusting entries. Formulate and recommend system and process changes through evaluation, analysis, and application of accounting theory.
- Prepare required financial accounting information in order to properly account for and close out accounts and activities.
- Interpret and apply accounting theory and principles and adapt procedures and reporting techniques in order to ensure compliance with governing laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Work across and with teams to support the work goals and the mission.
The DHHS Financial Service Center's Accounting Analyst Supervisor will contribute to the Department's mission by helping us ensure state and federal funds are utilized effectively to meet the health and welfare needs of Maine's citizens. Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced education, training, and/or experience in accounting, business administration, finance, or another closely related field demonstrating competency in applying accounting principles and standards, reviewing and monitoring complex business transactions, developing operational processes and procedures, and acting in a leadership capacity.
The backgrounds of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate the following competencies:
- Thorough knowledge and experience of complex accounting principles.
- Prior experience and/ or education which demonstrates knowledge of GAAP/ GASB, analyzing accounting data and accounting reconciliations.
- A proven ability to lead and direct accounting team operations.
- Ability to review, facilitate and implement financial controls across multiple lines of business and systems.
