    This position is responsible for the accounting and general ledger of North American Flat-Rolled (NAFR) steel making and finishing operations strategic investments. This is a highly visible and challenging position working with all levels within the enterprise. The position requires a highly-motivated self-starter who is extremely analytical and has excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple teams within the enterprise.

    Responsibilities:

    • Performance of the accounting and general ledger activities for strategic capital projects and the related fixed assets placed in service
    • Leading process improvement projects to increase efficiency with mechanical systemic solutions
    • Performance of special projects at the request of the Senior Manager - Plant Accounting
    • Interaction with personnel from corporate headquarters, tax division, plant operations, plant financial planning and analysis, engineering, procurement, and other areas of U. S. Steel

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting, finance, or other business related major
    • 1 - 2 years experience in financial accounting or analysis role necessary to demonstrate a solid understanding of advanced accounting and financial concepts
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Effective written, verbal and presentation skills
    • Must be comfortable dealing with all levels of personnel, from plant staff, operating and maintenance management
    • Must be a self-directed individual, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent personal computer skills including strong proficiency with Excel
    • CPA or CPA interest preferred
