Account Executive / Client Team Lead - Employee Benefits Hybrid - Grand Rapids

We're seeking a Account Executive / Client Team Lead who will make a meaningful impact by delivering proactive client service, thoughtful benefits strategy, and a high-touch experience for both clients and employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES
What You'll Do / Your ImpactClient Partnership & Strategic Leadership
Serve as a senior Account Executive for large group employee benefits clients
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners and key decision-makers
Present strategic benefit solutions and proposals, including emerging products and carrier strategies
Conduct open enrollment meetings and client presentations as requested
Strengthen client relationships through proactive engagement and service excellence
Sales Growth & Revenue Development
Identify and develop new business opportunities and maintain prospect activity
Meet annual sales goals established with sales leadership
Identify cross-selling opportunities with Commercial and Personal Lines
Negotiate competitive carrier arrangements to support revenue and contingency opportunities
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Act as a formal Team Lead, driving organization, communication, and efficiency across the Large Group team
Mentor, support, and guide Account Managers and other service team members
Monitor team performance and assist with development planning and performance discussions
Manage team scheduling, PTO coordination, and workload alignment
Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment
Operational & Compliance Excellence
Partner with Account Managers and service team members to ensure accurate, timely client service delivery
Follow insurance standards, compliance requirements, and ethical guidelines
Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Stay current on industry trends, compliance updates, products, and technology
QUALIFICATIONS
What You BringRequired
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
2+ years of professional experience in employee benefits or related client-facing roles
Active Life, Health, and Accident insurance license
Strong knowledge of employee benefits products and market dynamics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, time-management, and leadership skills
High attention to detail with a self-motivated work style
Preferred
Experience leading or mentoring team members
Proven success in sales growth and client retention within employee benefits
