I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
GW's Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS) is the largest undergraduate school on campus and home to the liberal arts. The Columbian College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Academic Advising Office empowers students to make intentional, informed decisions in pursuit of their academic, professional, and personal goals. The Academic Advisor, Columbian College of Arts and Sciences introduces strategies to foster personal and academic success in a welcoming, supportive environment that values each student's experiences, identities, and strengths. The Academic Advisor will also serve within an advising POD and provide students with general CCAS advising as well as serve as a liaison between the advising office and special student populations (e.g., transfer students, first-generation students, etc).
The Academic Advisor provides entry-level academic advising and support to undergraduate students in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS). The Academic Advisor helps students navigate academic programs, degree requirements, university policies and procedures, registration, and available campus resources. Through individual and group advising, the Academic Advisor supports students in developing academic plans, monitoring progress toward degree completion, exploring academic options, and addressing academic questions or challenges.
The Academic Advisor maintains accurate student records and advising documentation, responds to student inquiries, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and university partners to support student success. The position also contributes to advising programs, student outreach, orientation, graduation, and other college and university initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
