    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to work effectively with other people.
    • Ability to read and write.
    • General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
    • Possess physical strength sufficient to perform assigned duties.
    • Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs recurring tasks under direct supervision in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules.
    • Changes in work methods or procedures are specifically indicated by a supervisor and work is reviewed through personal inspection to assure completion of assignments in accordance with instruction and standards of cleanliness.
    • Performs the lighter manual tasks in stripping, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, spray buffing in school buildings; dusts and rearranges furniture within the area.
    • Washes windows, window sills, woodwork; vacuums carpets, spot cleans carpets and walls; cleans light fixtures, etc.
    • Cleans restrooms, fixtures; replenishes tissue, towel, and soap containers; replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes; empties waste receptacles into larger containers and removes containers from buildings.
    • Constantly keeps the building clean of any scattered paper and other litter that may detract from the appearance and sanitation of the building.
    • Reports to supervisor any damages or need for repairs.
    • Performs other related work as required, such as cleaning sidewalks and grounds.
    • Possesses responsibility for grass cutting, edging of walkways, buildings, fencing, access ways, cares for shrubbery on school campus.
    • Attends seminars and workshops as scheduled by the Custodial Supervisors pertaining to increasing job efficiency and skills.
    • Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties.
    • Obtains and maintains CDL bus license.
    • Completes the pre-trip and post-trip inspection.
    • Drives a bus when called upon to do so while maintaining proficiency in driving skills.
    • Maintains bus route schedule.
    • Maintains discipline and reports undisciplined students to school administration.
    • Discharge students only at authorized stops and transport only authorized students.
    • Complies with local and state traffic regulations and observes all mandatory safety regulations.
    • Reports delays and accidents.
    • Cleans the interior of the bus.

    • Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be able to perform medium/heavy lifting exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or to 25 pounds of force constantly to move object.
    • Must be able to climb ladder and be capable of traveling through needed crawlspace area.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
    • Must possess a valid North Carolina Drivers License.
    • Applicants must be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) when requested for purposes of driving a school bus.
