Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Intern to join the HarperCollins People Team! This internship will provide you with exposure to various HR functions, allowing you to gain a comprehensive understanding of HR operations and practices. You will rotate through different HR specialties, including recruitment, employee lifecycle, employee relations, training and development, diversity and inclusion, and HR administration.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

  • Assist in posting job openings, managing applications, and coordinating interviews.
  • Help organize recruitment events and outreach efforts.

Employee Onboarding & Offboarding:

  • Support the onboarding & offboarding process for new hires and departing employees, ensuring a smooth transition to and from the company.
  • Prepare onboarding and offboarding materials and assist with orientation sessions.

Employee Relations:

  • Assist with employee and managerial inquiries in partnership with the People Team.
  • Take detailed notes during intake calls and update the tracker accordingly.

Training and Development:

  • Participate in the planning and coordination of training programs.
  • Track attendance and feedback provided.

Diversity and Inclusion:

  • Help plan and coordinate D&I initiatives, such as workshops, information sessions, or awareness campaigns.
  • Support with employee engagement surveys and analyze results.

HRIS & Benefits:

  • Maintain employee records, prepare reports, and update HR databases.
  • Assist in the administration of the employee benefits programs and respond to employee inquiries.
Qualifications:
  • Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.  
  • Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • A passion for books is highly valued!
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of HR principles and practices is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
