The Peer Mentor is responsible for providing mentorship to 4-5 mentees for the entire academic year through weekly interactions.

<p>Start date: October 2024</p><p>Hours: 8 each week</p><p>Salary: $9.25/hour</p><p>Supervisor: Director of First-Generation Initiatives</p><p>General Summary:</p><p>A Eureka College Peer Mentor provides one-on-one mentoring sessions that support the mentees' goals. Mentees are first-year students who are either the first in their family to attend college and/or historically underrepresented. The Peer Mentor is responsible for providing mentorship to 4-5 mentees for the entire academic year through weekly interactions. The Peer Mentor will participate in training prior to being assigned a mentee roster and will attend 3 campus activities throughout the semester. A peer mentor should be passionate about helping others succeed, eager to develop their leadership, dedicated to serving diverse student groups, have an open mind and flexibility.</p><p>Position Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Serve as an advocate, coach and role model for mentees</p></li><li><p>Partner with mentees to support action plans completed through college resources</p></li><li><p>Initiate contact with mentees each week</p></li><li><p>Utilize tools from the Peer Mentor training to mentoring relationship</p></li><li><p>Email or text roster of mentees a list of activities that are occurring on campus each week</p></li><li><p>Document all interactions with mentees through electronic case note form on a weekly basis</p></li><li><p>Attend bi-weekly Peer Mentor staff meetings</p></li><li><p>Immediately inform supervisor if mentees are at risk of harming themselves or others</p></li><li><p>Notify supervisor of any conflicts or inability to fulfill position responsibilities.</p></li><li><p>Participate in required mentor trainings, meetings, and campus events.</p></li></ul>
