The position includes significant administrative work including medical staff governance, recruitment, retention, credentialing, privileging and supervision of the medical staff, which includes MDs, APRNs, PMHNP/PMHCNSs, Locum Tenens, and provides clinical direction to other disciplines (nursing, social work, etc.) The Medical Director is a member of and chairs the Medical Executive Committee and other committees as directed by the Superintendent or the WCY bylaws. This position ensures that a collaborative multi-disciplinary treatment philosophy is implemented consistently throughout hospital treatment units and clinical departments which supports a recovery care framework, seeking input from medical staff, clinical department heads and other staff.
