**Job Description**
 
**AECOM** is seeking an **Entry Level Structural Engineer** to be based in **Kansas City, MO.**
 
_This position is expected to begin in May 2026._
 
+ Perform analysis and design of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and sign structures under the supervision of experienced engineers.
 
+ Use computer programs to model and solve engineering problems.
 
+ Creates design calculations, sketches, plan details, and project reports meeting industry standards.
 
+ Visit job sites and inspect in-service structures.
 
+ Complete work assignments within budget and schedule.
 
+ Develop strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
 
+ Build knowledge of transportation project development and delivery.
 
+ Maintain technical learning on route to obtain professional licenses.
 
**Qualifications**
 
**Minimum Requirements :**
 
+ Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
 
+ Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
 
**Preferred Qualifications :**
 
+ Proficient with MS Office suite programs Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
 
+ Knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation.
 
+ Knowledge of basic ACI, AISC, and ASCE design codes and specifications.
 
+ Previous internship experience
 
+ Passed FE exam
 
+ Master’s degree in structural engineering
 
+ Knowledge of AASHTO design specifications and DOT practice.

Projects assigned will be typically small or basic system installations or moves, adds and changes while the employee is obtaining experience and learning the fundamentals of system engineering (design).Essential Functions<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Understands the strategy and objectives of each Strategic Business Unit.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Handles various aspects of designing/engineering work.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Understands and responds to customer requests, both verbal and written.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Directly communicates with customers in the form of quotations, meetings, presentations, drawings and/or technical support to understand and define their needs.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Designs system(s) to meet all requirements based on written and verbal descriptions set forth by the customer and/or other employees.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Manages several projects at one time.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Handles all changes and problems related to system(s) assigned.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Works directly with other designers/engineers and employees to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings and electronic images as well as work from customer drawings, company drawings and/or specifications.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Works closely with all departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error-free.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Maintains system knowledge and code knowledge as directed by the Engineering Manager and/or Channel/Department Director.</li><li>Keeps Engineering Manager informed of all activity, including timely preparation of required reports.</li><li>Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees and managers to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity and continued improvement.</li></ul> POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSThe following are the minimum qualifications an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education:<ul><li>Associate's degree in a field of electronics, electrical or computer engineering or related engineering field or equivalent work experience.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>One year experience in a designer/engineer capacity.</li><li>Understanding of CAD and drafting techniques</li><li>CTS, CTS-D (preferred)</li><li>Knowledge of design techniques, principals, and tools involved in the production and use of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and models.</li><li>Knowledge of communication system principles.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of computer, local area network, and wide area network technologies.</li></ul> We're an equal opportunity employer.
