Job OverviewThe Wholesale Mortgage / Correspondent Loan Processor is responsible for coordinating and managing the mortgage loan process across various lenders. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, efficient, and able to communicate effectively with multiple contacts including borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, and third-party vendors. This role requires a thorough understanding of mortgage documentation, regulatory requirements, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.ResponsibilitiesLoan Documentation & Processing<ul><li>Collect, review, and organize borrower documentation to ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with lender and regulatory guidelines.</li><li>Enter and process loan data into the loan origination system (LOS) accurately.</li><li>Verify accuracy of income, employment, credit, asset, and property information.</li></ul>Coordination with Lenders and Vendors<ul><li>Act as the primary contact between wholesale lenders or correspondent lenders and internal stakeholders.</li><li>Schedule and coordinate with third-party vendors (appraisers, title companies, underwriters, etc.) for inspections, valuations, and other services required during the processing stage.</li><li>Monitor and facilitate communication between borrowers, loan officers, credit analysts, and underwriters to ensure a smooth workflow throughout the mortgage lifecycle.</li></ul>Compliance & Quality Assurance<ul><li>Ensure all processed loans comply with internal and external guidelines, including federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, etc.).</li><li>Prepare and maintain audit trails for document reviews, system updates, and communications.</li><li>Assist in internal and external audits by providing detailed documentation and accurate data records.</li></ul>Status Tracking & Reporting<ul><li>Maintain a comprehensive status tracking system (using software or spreadsheets) for all loan files.</li><li>Prepare status updates and weekly reports for management and stakeholder review.</li><li>Identify bottlenecks in the process and proactively offer solutions to mitigate delays.</li></ul>Problem Resolution<ul><li>Act swiftly to resolve issues or discrepancies that occur during the loan processing stages.</li><li>Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by participating in meetings, training sessions, and process reviews.</li></ul>Customer Service & Relationship Management<ul><li>Provide exceptional customer service by proactively communicating with borrowers and ensuring their inquiries are addressed.</li><li>Build and nurture strong relationships with lenders and external partners to facilitate expedited loan processing.</li></ul>QualificationsEducation and Experience<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.</li><li>Experience in Loan origination, preferably in a wholesale or correspondent environment.</li><li>Familiarity with mortgage loan applications, underwriting guidelines, and document management systems.</li></ul>Technical Skills<ul><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and common loan origination software systems.</li><li>Ability to learn and adapt to new software and digital processing platforms.</li></ul>Knowledge & Certifications<ul><li>Working knowledge of federal and state lending regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, ECOA).</li><li>Certification in mortgage processing or completion of relevant training courses is a plus.</li></ul>Communication & Interpersonal Skills<ul><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and succinctly.</li><li>Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul>Attention to Detail & Organizational Skills<ul><li>Exceptional organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.</li><li>Capable of managing multiple files simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.</li></ul>Adaptability<ul><li>Flexibility to adapt to evolving guidelines, new technologies, and workflow improvements.If you are passionate about the mortgage industry and possess the required skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity as a Mortgage Processor.</li></ul>Work Environment<ul><li>Office Environment: This role may be based in a traditional office setting, a shared workspace. Description As the Home Mortgage Underwriting Correspondent Specialist, you will perform pre purchase or post purchase underwriting reviews on selected conventional and/or FHA loan products, in accordance with the guidelines of the Citizens Correspondent Lending Division including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA. This position will report to the VP of Pre-Purchase. Primary responsibilities include + Perform pre-purchase underwriting risk reviews on designated loans based on specific criteria. + Perform AUS data validation on the selected loans. + Assist the Auditors to resolve any pre-purchase issues, as needed. + Assist the Investor Suspense and Post purchase groups to resolve Loan salability issues. + Assist Underwriting Managers and Team Leads with additional tasks, as needed. Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials + Minimum 3-5 years mortgage experience in Underwriting or equivalent. + Must be familiar with automated underwriting systems including Fannie Mae's Desktop Underwriter and Freddie Mac's Loan Prospector. + Maintain current understanding of all Citizens, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, DU and LPA guidelines and policies. + Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, DU and LPA. + Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Organized with keen attention to detail. + Able to multiple task. + Customer Service Driven. Ability to return all customer calls and emails within 2 hours on the same day as received. + Ability to work outside normal business hours, if needed.
