General knowledge of principles of anatomy, physiology and chemistry in relation to the respiratory and circulatory systems; general knowledge of the principles and techniques of emergency care, including proper treatment, and automobile extrication and patient transportation; general knowledge of all emergency care equipment; general knowledge of the street system and physical layout of the City of Lynchburg; general knowledge of elementary physics, chemistry and mechanics; general knowledge of technical fire fighting principles and techniques, and principles of hydraulics as applied to fire suppression. Responds to alarms, drives and operates apparatus and related equipment, assists in the suppression of fires, including entry, advancing lines, rescue, ventilation, salvage work, and extrication; Responds to emergency medical calls, drives equipment, and administers pre-hospital basic and/or advanced life support care (if certified); stabilizes and transports patients to emergency care facilities; Extricates victims from automobile wrecks, collapsed structures, etc.
