Responsibilities and Duties
The Advanced Practice Provider will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with physicians and the clinical team.
This rapidly growing area is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, boasting scenic parks, family-friendly neighborhoods, and a low cost of livingone of the lowest in the nation, as reported by the Council for Community and Economic Research. Appropriately documents own interventions and reviews appropriate health team documentation of patient treatment plans and involve the primary care provider when indicated to treat changes in the patient's condition.
The Nurse Practitioner provides general treatment, conducts examinations, treats illnesses, orders and reviews lab tests and prescribes medication for children and adults. This includes but is not limited to patient evaluation and management, patient assessment, therapeutic treatment as ordered by the physician, laboratory testing, and patient discharge and education.

p>Activities include: efforts to recruit, retain, and refer medical and dental providers for participation in the THSteps program; providing consultation to resolve provider enrollment and billing issues; policy clarification; technical assistance; and developing and delivering educational presentations to relevant stakeholders. Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of: THSteps program policy, requirements, and procedures; marketing strategies; Medicaid programs and the client eligibility process; related childrens health programs such as CHIP, CSHCN-SP, SSI; healthcare delivery systems; Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); agency policies and procedures; quality assurance and technical assistance practices.
The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is a Complexity Level 1A medical center facility with over 4,000 employees which serves 39 counties in Central Texas and consists of two hospitals located in Temple and Waco; one clinic in Austin; four community based outpatient clinics in Brownwood, Cedar Park, College Station, and Palestine; a community living center (CLC) situated at each of the Temple and Waco campuses; one domiciliary in Temple; a Blind Rehabilitation Unit in Waco; a rehabilitation unit for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Waco and Serious Mental Illness Life Empowerment (SMILE) in Waco; a rural community outreach clinic in La Grange; and an outpatient clinic annex in Temple. GS-4 [Employees may be appointed at or advanced to GS-4 if they meet any of the criteria in paragraphs 3b(2)(a) through (c) below: (a) Six months of qualifying experience as an LPN or LVN; or (b) Graduation from an approved school (which may be waived as provided in paragraph 4 of Section C) and one year of experience that involved nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures; or (c) Graduation from an approved school of at least 24 months duration (d) LPNs at the GS-4 grade level perform all duties expected of employees at the GS-3 grade level; however, they are expected to exercise greater judgment, require less supervision and to operate in accordance with all established policies, procedure, and techniques.
Fort Hood is a United States Army post located in the beautiful ''hill and lake'' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor''s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or above) which includes providing nursing care to critically ill infants.
Provides counsel to the home care/Hospice agencies regarding partnerships with our own Hospice agency to provide services throughout the community. QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION - Bachelors or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification EXPERIENCE - 1 Year of Experience.
