PSI is the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, with two of the largest dry docks in the state. The Welder welds metal components with appropriate equipment to fit and join, fabricate, and/or repair a variety of marine equipment and structural components per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.  Performs SMAW, GMAW, and other welding techniques in all positions of various metal and alloys.  Must be familiar with ABS & NAVSEA standards. Welds range from simple tacks to complex welds, performed in varying positions</li><li>Works includes set-up, laying out work using fixtures and guides to repair, modify, or fabricate parts and/or equipment products</li><li>Operates and/or uses related equipment and tools which include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable & bench), cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, a tape measure, and Air Arc</li><li>Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follow manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; call for repairs and complete the daily check sheets</li><li>Reads, understands, and follows job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.</li><li>Maintains level of work performance in accordance with standards and/or job order specifications</li><li>Participates in process and product development and improvement programs, teams, and focus groups</li><li>Maintains a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.  Keep work area clean and clean up after project completion or end of shift as appropriate</li></ul> Education/Training:<ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li><li>Minimum 1 year of related experience required</li><li>ASW certification preferred, however, not required</li><li>Large scale industrial experience. Assists in maintaining inventory of diamonds and colored stones for repair and fabrication of jewelry. Cleans, sieve, grades, identifies and parcels incoming stones from scrap melt refining.
