King HS Band program has experienced a lot growth in both quality and size in the last 5 years, having grown from 120 to 250 wind and percussion students (plus nearly 50 additional students in colorguard), earned 3 consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards for success in region marching and varsity concert/sight-reading, qualified for Area Marching consecutively since 2018 (progressing in final rank each year), and this year took 3 full concert bands to UIL Concert & Sight-Reading for the first time, earning 1s/2s in all areas with all 3 ensembles, including Straight 1s at Varsity. King High School is a relatively new facility with multiple band-specific spaces and access to a beautiful and contest-ready Performing Arts Center, and this coming year, the district will open a brand new 9th/10th Grade Campus on the same grounds that will include a Fine Arts Gym/2nd Band Hall for indoor and marching groups.
