Basic Function and Responsibility:

The Youth Worker – Tracker plays a critical role in supporting Juvenile Probation Officers (JPOs) by providing direct, hands-on assistance to youth and their families. This position focuses on reducing barriers, increasing access to resources, and ensuring youth remain engaged in services, education, and pro-social activities. The Tracker serves as a bridge between youth, families, the court, and the community by delivering timely, practical support that promotes stability and positive outcomes.

Appointing Authority and Supervision Received

The deputy court administrator of family court is the appointing authority.  The youth worker receives direct supervision by the program manager.

Characteristic and Assigned Duties: (The following duties are representative of the position and do not include all duties which may be performed.)

  • Provide direct support to youth and families to address immediate needs and reduce barriers to success
  • Assist youth and families with applications for public benefits (e.g., DSS, Medicaid, SNAP)Connect families to food resources, clothing, and basic needs (including managing and distributing items from the resource closet)
  • Support housing stability efforts by linking families to housing resources and assisting with applications
  • Conduct follow-up and aftercare support to ensure continuity of services
  • Maintain regular communication with JPOs regarding youth progress, needs, and concerns. This includes attending case staffing to support treatment goals and maintaining documentation.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, service providers, and local agencies
  • Actively identify and build a network of resources to support youth (education, employment, mental health, housing, etc.)
  • Attend community meetings, forums, and events to stay informed about available services and opportunities
  • Collaborate with employers to create employment opportunities for youth of all working ages
  • Serve as backup support for secure transports
  • Assist with transportation for youth to court-related appointments, programming, school meetings, and services as needed
  • Assist with evening programming transportation logistics
  • Support special events, group programming, and departmental initiatives

  • Ability to operate a vehicle in a safe and prudent manner.

Minimum Qualifications: (Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis, provided a high school diploma or GED has been obtained.)

High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of work experience, not necessarily related.  Two years of work experience with troubled youth preferred.

Necessary Special Requirement

Minimum age requirement is 25 years old.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from state of residence, and provide proof of such.

Must possess and maintain state mandated auto liability insurance and a properly licensed, reliable vehicle, and provide proof of such.

Must be able to successfully pass physical exam and physical abilities performance test.
