PRIMARY FUNCTIONThe Youth Development team works directly with Club members to provide engaging, hands-on programs that help young people reach their full potential. Programs focus on three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship.Positions are available working with youth in grades K-12.Prepare Youth for SuccessLead Club programs and activities that support positive Youth Development Outcomes under the guidance of the Unit Director and Program Outcomes Directors.Facilitate fun, engaging, and educational activities that align with the organization's mission and goals.Review lesson plans, gather materials, and prepare activity spaces before programming begins.Encourage members to participate in a variety of programs and activities while providing instruction, encouragement, and constructive feedback.Create an environment where youth feel welcomed, supported, included, and excited to participate.Maintain appropriate group and classroom management while demonstrating strong leadership.Ensure proper conduct and safety while supporting the social and emotional development of Club members.Follow the organization's discipline procedures when intervention is necessary.Build positive relationships with youth by mentoring, coaching, encouraging, and helping them believe in themselves and their goals.Demonstrate professionalism, patience, consistency, and appropriate conduct at all times.Keep members safe by following and enforcing all child safety policies and procedures at the Club site.Maintain a Safe & Welcoming Club EnvironmentKeep program areas clean, organized, safe, well-lit, and properly ventilated.Help ensure Club equipment and program materials remain in good working condition.Clean and organize assigned program areas at the end of each day.Attendance & Record KeepingTake accurate attendance for assigned activities and programs.Complete and submit timesheets and other required paperwork by established deadlines.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESMay assist with or oversee special programs and events such as Keystone, Youth of the Year, awards programs, and other Club activities.May occasionally be required to drive a Club van or other authorized vehicle, when qualified and approved to do so.May communicate with parents or guardians regarding Club members and Club-related matters.Work closely with assigned program partners and collaborate with other staff members as part of the Club team.Assist with additional Club responsibilities as needed to support members, programs, and daily operations.SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREDHigh school diploma or equivalent.Some experience working with children or youth is required.Previous experience with a Boys & Girls Club, after-school program, school, childcare program, summer camp, or similar youth-serving organization is strongly preferred.Must be comfortable working with groups of young people and managing a classroom or activity space while keeping programming FUN, engaging, and safe.Strong teamwork, communication, patience, and creativity are essential.Must be dependable and punctual.
