Youth Program Development & Outdoor Learning Specialist
The AmeriCorps Youth Program Development & Outdoor Learning Specialists will help expand the James 4-H Camp's capacity to provide safe, engaging, and high-quality educational experiences for Arizona youth. Members will collaborate with camp staff, University personnel, community partners, volunteers, and qualified program specialists to strengthen youth programming, evaluation, volunteer engagement, resource management, community outreach, and educational facility development. The James 4-H Camp & Outdoor Learning Center is located northeast of Prescott and southwest of Sedona on 55 acres near Mingus Mountain in the Black Hills range. Situated at approximately 6,500 feet and surrounded by the Prescott National Forest, the camp features a lake, streams, trails, recreation areas, and indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The camp is approximately 45 minutes from nearby communities and is reached by paved roads followed by five miles of maintained, unpaved Forest Service road. Members should be comfortable living and serving in a remote mountain setting with changing weather, uneven terrain, and limited nearby services. Member Duties : Create and deliver memorable youth programs. Build a youth-program inventory system. Lead program-evaluation implementation. Improve camp learning spaces. Strengthen volunteer engagement. Connect the camp with its communities. Help bring a youth challenge course to life. Help shape future youth shooting sports opportunities. support and deliver direct program service that includes activity orientation, direct instruction, and support to youth, staff, and volunteers. Ensure the general safety of campers, staff, and volunteers at the waterfront, on the challenge course, hiking, archery range and activity areas. Serves as a member of the Program Specialist Team (PST) to develop camp programing; plan camp and volunteer events; assists experiential learning activities for youth and adults.
