Job Description:

As a Youth Facility Security Officer - Badge Intake in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Allied Universal officer at a government juvenile services location, you will manage access points, verify credentials, monitor entry activity, and conduct routine patrols to help deter incidents. You will maintain a professional presence, communicate clearly with staff and visitors, and support a caring, orderly environment. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, residents, and/or contractors by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities at a government juvenile services location.
  • Monitor access points and verify authorization for entry, maintaining visitor logs, issuing credentials as assigned, and directing individuals according to facility procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and documenting activities in accordance with site policies.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, building areas, and perimeter locations to help identify unauthorized access, policy concerns, and/or unusual activity.
  • Prepare accurate reports and maintain required records related to access-control activity, incidents, visitor management, and shift observations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • X-ray screening experience is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
