Part-Time Youth Director Position

St. Luke United Methodist Church

The Youth Director must be spiritually mature and continuing to develop their own personal faith in Jesus Christ. He or she must have a passion for teaching and leading youth and helping them grow

a deeper relationship with Christ. The Youth Director will teach, preach, and lead by example United Methodist theology, doctrine and polity (church government). As time and responsibilities allow,

the Youth Director will participate in District and Conference events and meetings.

The Youth Director is under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee. He or she will attend weekly Staff Meetings and semi-monthly Church Council meetings to

report on the ministry and activities of the Youth program. Regular meetings with the Senior Pastor to discuss curriculum and specifics of the ministry are expected (at least once per quarter). Regular

coordination with the Children's Director is almost a must.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 year college degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in grades 6-12
  • Must exhibit a Christ-like attitude, be enthusiastic and a self-starter
  • Must have a clear theological and biblical understanding and respect for the teachings of United Methodist doctrine; submit theological survey
  • Must be open-minded and accepting of youth with different perspectives and worldviews
  • Must have strong leadership and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Must implement St Luke's vision, mission and values
  • Must implement intentional discipleship for youth, including but not limited to:
  • Confirmation Class
  • Small Groups
  • Worship
  • Trips (Summer Mission Trips, Camps, Winter Retreat, etc)
  • Mission
  • Develop relationships with parents, coordinate regular meetings with parents (at least quarterly)
  • Recruit and develop volunteers to help implement the overall Youth Ministry
  • Promote the integration of Youth into the whole life of the church (committee participation, choir, band, worship, etc)
  • Prepare annual budget to support all Youth programming, and submit to Finance Committee annually

  • 90 day probationary period
  • Complete and maintain Safe Sanctuary Training for self and volunteers

Salary:

  • 20 hours per week
  • $20,000/year
  • Salary, non-exempt
