Young Musicians Foundation Specialist VISTA
Young Musicians Foundation (YMF) works to disrupt inequity through healing-based music education, creative career pathways, and community engagement. YMF provides tuition-free arts programming, instruments, technology, and creative opportunities to children, youth, young adults, and families, primarily from low-income and historically underserved communities across Los Angeles. Many young people YMF serves face barriers to quality arts education, mentorship, career development, and pathways to continued education and employment. Young adults, including Transition-Age Youth (TAY) and opportunity youth, may also face barriers related to unemployment or underemployment, limited career pathways, transportation, financial resources, and access to professional networks and creative industry opportunities. The AmeriCorps VISTA project will strengthen YMF's capacity to address these barriers by developing sustainable outreach, partnership, communications, data, enrollment, retention, and feedback systems. The VISTA will create tools and processes that YMF staff can maintain beyond the service term. Improved outreach and communications systems will help YMF reach more low-income youth and young adults and increase awareness of tuition-free programs and creative career opportunities. Partnership systems will strengthen relationships with schools, colleges, workforce agencies, nonprofits, libraries, and creative industry organizations that can connect young people to YMF. Data and feedback systems will help YMF identify enrollment and retention barriers and improve access and engagement. Communications and storytelling systems will strengthen YMF's ability to share student experiences, demonstrate impact, and engage community partners and funders. Together, these capacity-building activities will strengthen YMF's infrastructure and ability to provide low-income youth and young adults with access to music education, creative development, and career pathways.
