About the Job:

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Yoga Instructor plans and supervises Yoga activities for clients. Works with clients with a range of physical abilities, mental illness diagnosis, and substance use disorder issues. Combining a variety of techniques to aid in a person's personal recovery process by way of utilizing physical techniques (e.g., stretching and/or strengthening yoga postures) and mental training (e.g., breath work or somatic awareness exercises). Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, to provide therapeutic yoga program services for clients.

Roles and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs client assessments.
• Develops and implements yoga therapy treatment plan in concert with the interdisciplinary team.
• Sufficiently plans and prepares for activities in timely fashion.
• Prepares materials for facilitating sessions and/or groups.
• Facilitates group therapy within the specialized modalities necessary to meet client needs.
• Encourages and assists clients in participation in scheduled activities.
• Observes behavioral and emotional responses of clients and refers to Therapist as needed.
• Maintains all related equipment.
• Prepares documentation of client interactions and participation in the yoga group and the progress with treatment goals. .
• Accurately meets client care review criteria, selects client presetting issues, current behavior and goals.
• Participates in the ongoing implementation of the departments or services continuous quality improvement plan.
• Ensures that yoga activities are consistently planned, scheduled & carried out.
• Collaborates with other professionals in a team approach. Communicates as needed with program staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a related health and fitness field preferred.
• One or more years' experience providing yoga therapy with population of the facility preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Completion of a vocational training or certificate program in yoga instruction required.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

WORK LOCATION:

This position is onsite and is not a remote position.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

This position is an Individual Contributor.
