    Description

    A Day In the Life of a YCAP Assistant:

    This summer/seasonal YCAP Assistant is responsible for tutoring and mentoring at-risk youth. This role is part of the YMCA's Youth Community Action Project (Y-CAP - part of the YCMA of Metropolitan Chattanooga), which provides services and a structured program for children between the ages of 10-14, who have been referred through the juvenile court system or the school system. Each child and their family have a personalized treatment plan that addresses their spiritual, physical, mental, and social needs. As a YCAP Assistant, you will play a crucial role in positively impacting their lives.


    Shifts during the school year are Monday-Thursday from 2pm-6:30pm.


    Responsibilities:

    • Be a positive role model
    • Assist with schoolwork
    • Provide behavioral guidance
    • Implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines
    • Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child
    • Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians
    • Maintain required program records, such as sign-in/sign-out rosters
    • Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training
    • Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older
    • Must have clean driving record
    • High school degree or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
