The Yard Technician maintains the cleanliness of the yard and keeps the rental equipment organized to minimize customer wait time. This position assists customers with equipment check-in, check-out, and basic operation knowledge.
Essential Functions
- Prepare equipment for rent by cleaning with a power washer.
- Ensure proper PPE apparel is worn while in the yard.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment.
- Provide customers basic training, as needed.
- Fuel and meter equipment upon check-in.
- Record fuel logs and other information.
- Stage equipment for deliveries.
- Maintain proper yard organization.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the yard, including general housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, and garbage collection.
- Ensure all rental equipment is properly tagged and has required key.
- Make small deliveries/pickups to client site and/or retailer using a pickup truck when requested.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have good organizational and communication skills.
- Must be customer service oriented.
- Valid State-issued Driver's License.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision - self-motivated.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
Military service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Work Environment
- Primarily conducted at construction sites, equipment yards, and on transportation routes, with regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment.
- Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions, often amid uneven terrain, dust, mud, and noise.
- Work may include both shop-based tasks and fieldwork, including travel to job sites.
- PPE (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection) is required, and safety protocols must be followed at all times.
- Must be comfortable working around large equipment, in confined spaces, or at elevated positions.
- Requires flexibility, as job site conditions and priorities can change quickly.

Physical Demands
- Requires high physical stamina and mobility, including frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of tools and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to secure loads, inspect vehicles, or perform minor maintenance.
- Prolonged standing and walking on uneven terrain, climbing in and out of trucks or onto equipment, and working at heights requiring balance.
- Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for handling controls, securing tie-downs, and completing documentation.
- Must safely operate commercial vehicles and stay alert in potentially hazardous driving and yard conditions.
- Occasional pushing, pulling, and positioning of heavy materials or components.
