Yard Specialist

Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Yard Specialist for our New Hudson, MI branch. This is an Operating Engineers Local 324 position. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:

Completing equipment traffic paperwork in an accurate mannerPhotos of all equipment moving in and out of the facilityVisual inspections of machines for check in and outVerification of operator manuals and safety equipmentOrganization of the yardMaintaining the cleanliness of the exterior of the facilityIncorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activitiesPerforms other duties as assignedConsistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time

Qualifications

Must have good customer relation skillsKnowledge of small engine maintenance and repair is preferredKnowledge of construction equipmentExperience operating heavy equipment is requiredMust be able to work in a fast paced environment with a friendly and professional personalityComputer programs- Microsoft Outlook and basic computer skillLanguage Skills- Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills- Basic: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability- Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
