Yard & Rental Readiness Technician

DRP Truck & Equipment – New Philadelphia, OH


Position Overview
DRP Truck & Equipment is looking for a dependable, self-motivated Yard & Rental Readiness Technician to join our New Philadelphia location.
This is a hands-on position responsible for keeping our rental equipment ready for customers, maintaining an organized and professional equipment yard, assisting customers with equipment pickups and returns, and helping maintain the overall appearance of our facility and property.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in keeping equipment and property looking good, and doesn't need to be constantly told what needs done next.


Primary Responsibilities
Rental Equipment Readiness
  • Perform check-in and check-out inspections on all rental equipment.
  • Inspect returned equipment for damage, missing items, leaks, or other concerns.
  • Immediately report damage or mechanical concerns to management.
  • Thoroughly pressure wash and clean returned rental equipment.
  • Detail machines with the goal of making every piece of equipment look as close to new as reasonably possible before returning it to the rental fleet.
  • Clean cabs, windows, operator stations, steps, compartments, and exterior surfaces.
  • Check basic fluid levels and grease equipment as required.
  • Keep machines fueled and prepared for the next rental.
  • Ensure attachments and accessories are returned with the correct machine.
  • Maintain organized rental-ready and service-needed equipment areas.
Customer Pickup & Return Support
  • Assist customers immediately when they arrive to pick up or return rental equipment.
  • Communicate with office personnel regarding equipment coming and going.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment.
  • Provide basic equipment operation and control orientation.
  • Help identify and recommend proper equipment tie-down and securement points.
  • Voice any concerns regarding unsafe equipment hauling or securement.
  • Maintain a professional and helpful attitude when interacting with customers.
  • Ensure every rental unit receives a completed check-in and check-out — no exceptions.
Yard & Equipment Organization
  • Keep equipment organized in designated areas.
  • Maintain straight, professional equipment display rows.
  • Keep attachments, buckets, forks, backline equipment, and other inventory organized.
  • Assist with moving and staging equipment.
  • Maintain clear customer and truck traffic areas.
  • Keep the yard free of trash, debris, loose materials, and unnecessary clutter.
Property & Grounds Maintenance
  • Mow property approximately once per week during growing season.
  • Weed eat around buildings, equipment areas, signs, fences, landscaping, and other obstacles.
  • Spray and control weeds throughout gravel lots and other designated areas.
  • Drag and maintain gravel lots to eliminate ruts and maintain a fresh, professional appearance.
  • Maintain landscaping and keep beds clean and weed-free.
  • Keep sidewalks, concrete, entrances, and customer areas clean.
  • Pressure wash concrete and exterior areas as required.
  • Maintain the entrance and driveway to the facility.
  • Monitor drainage areas and report washouts or other property concerns.
  • Keep fence lines and property boundaries maintained.
Facility Maintenance
  • Keep buildings clean and organized inside and out.
  • Sweep designated buildings and work areas weekly.
  • Empty trash and dispose of debris.
  • Maintain clean building entrances.
  • Inspect and clean gutters as necessary.
  • Assist with minor facility maintenance.
  • Clean and mop showroom, office, and restroom areas every Friday.
  • Maintain restroom supplies and overall cleanliness.
Delivery & Transportation Support
After completing required training:
  • Assist with local delivery and pickup of smaller rental equipment.
  • Operate company 3/4-ton pickup and trailer.
  • Properly load and secure equipment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the assigned truck and trailer.
  • Keep straps, chains, binders, safety equipment, and necessary supplies stocked.
  • Perform basic truck and trailer inspections and report maintenance concerns.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate pickup trucks and trailers.
  • Heavy equipment or construction equipment familiarity strongly preferred.
  • Ability to operate skid steers, compact excavators, tractors, loaders, and similar equipment is preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable identifying basic equipment concerns.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Comfortable using pressure washers, lawn equipment, weed eaters, sprayers, hand tools, and other property-maintenance equipment.
  • Must be dependable and able to work independently.
  • Must be comfortable interacting directly with customers.
