    Description

Are you passionate about the games industry and ready to shape how game studios and publishers build on the cloud? AWS is looking for a Worldwide Technical Leader to own the global technical direction for the Games sub-industry within the Media, Entertainment, Games, and Sports (MEGS) organization. In this role, you will operate as the industry domain technical strategist, coordinating with business leadership to translate strategy into community action across a global Technical Field Community (TFC).

This is a dedicated individual contributor leadership role with no direct reports. You will lead through influence, earning the trust of community members across organizations and mobilizing them toward shared priorities. Your work will include prioritizing the use cases that matter most to games customers, organizing builders to create reusable solutions, resolving industry-specific technical requests at scale, incubating technical content, representing AWS at major games industry events, and growing the next generation of games specialists across the field. Success in this role means games customers get the right solutions faster, account teams are equipped to win, and AWS strengthens its position as the platform of choice for the games industry.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own the global technical direction for the Games community, partnering with business leadership to align field insights to strategy, prioritizing use cases and customer needs that guide the technical field community outputs.
    • Serve as the technical voice of the games market to AWS service teams, product managers, and go-to-market leaders, gathering customer pain points, emerging trends, and competitive intelligence from field engagements and translating them into structured product and roadmap input.
    • Drive the creation and scaling of reusable technical artifacts - solutions, workshops, reference architectures, and guidance packages - aligned to prioritized games use cases, and set the quality bar for all games-related technical content published by the community.
    • Lead AWS technical presence at major games industry events such as GDC, Gamescom, and re:Invent, owning session strategy, delivering keynotes, and engaging executive-level stakeholders at strategic games customers and partners.
    • Grow and scale games industry expertise across the field by packaging successful customer engagements into repeatable solution architectures, sponsoring onboarding pathways, and mentoring generalist solutions architects into credible games practitioners.

    A day in the life

You might start your morning reviewing account plans with a regional lead to identify where games customers need deeper technical engagement, then join a sync with service leadership to share field feedback on a product roadmap. After lunch, you could be reviewing a reference architecture that a community member built for a game backend use case, providing guidance before it gets published. Later, you are preparing keynote content for an upcoming industry conference and connecting with an account team to help shape a technical win strategy for a strategic customer evaluation.

    About the team

The MEGS team operates four industry-aligned Technical Field Communities (Media & Entertainment, Games, Advertising & Marketing Technology, and Betting & Gaming). These communities are the connective tissue between deep domain expertise and field execution at scale. Leadership for the Games Technical Field Community sits within MEGS and brings together the builders from cross cutting technical organizations across AWS who share a passion for the games industry and converge around shared industry challenges to solve customer challenges with field scalable solutions. Our closest partners include the Games sub-industry business leader, AWS service teams, product marketing, go-to-market and account teams worldwide. If you want to combine deep games industry knowledge with the reach and resources of AWS to help customers build what is next, we would love to hear from you.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
