Writer and Author (Print Journalism)

Contingent upon contract award. Full-time, 100% on site at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. Monday–Friday, 0800–1630, with occasional support outside normal duty hours during contingencies or exercises. Public Trust (Tier 2) background check and CAC required.

Claxton Logistics is hiring a journalist to tell Walter Reed’s stories of clinical innovation, research, recovery and service. You will pitch, report and write AP-style news, features and speeches; interview clinicians, patients and families with consent; and compile the weekly external communication report.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in journalism, communications, English or related
• 5+ years in journalism or professional writing, with a published portfolio
• Healthcare or military public affairs experience
• HIPAA/PHI knowledge when interviewing patients

Preferred Qualifications

• Military or DHA news writing
• DVIDS publishing
