Position Objective:
The Workplace Learning Coach provides mentoring and guidance to participants in both the Registered Apprenticeship Program and pre-apprenticeship (CTE) programs with local school districts. This role supports apprentices and students in building professional skills, connecting classroom learning to real-world practice, and preparing for careers in early childhood education. The Coach engages with students during child development sessions, observes their practicum hours in early learning centers, and provides feedback to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and confidence.
Education, Experience, Qualifications:
Education and Experience (Essential)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 2+ years of experience in early childhood education, mentoring, workforce development, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Education and Experience (Desired)
- Experience with mentoring, coaching, or supporting learners in practicum or internship settings is desirable.
- Strong documentation and observation skills with the ability to provide actionable feedback.
- Commitment to supporting childcare centers and preparing the next generation of early childhood educators.
Essential Functions
- Part-time position (15–20 hours per week, depending on program needs).
- Flexible scheduling with some daytime availability required to align with school district schedules and practicum hours.
- Local travel required to school districts and partner centers. Reliable transportation is necessary.
General Responsibilities:
- Coach apprentices in the Registered Apprenticeship Program and students in pre-apprenticeship CTE programs.
- Support apprentices and pre-apprentices in connecting coursework to workplace experiences through coaching and reflective conversations.
- Lead professional development sessions designed to support pre-apprentice learning, skill development, and career readiness.
- Provide guidance and encouragement to students as they participate in child development sessions and complete practicum hours.
- Conduct center observations of apprentices and pre-apprentices during practicum, offering constructive feedback to support skill development.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating professionalism and positive workplace behaviors.
- Document student/apprentice progress and provide updates to program staff on strengths, challenges, and support needs.
- Assist with orientation, onboarding, and transitions into apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, or workplace settings.
- Collaborate with apprenticeship staff, school district partners, and early learning centers to ensure quality coaching support.

- Visual and aural acuity, as well as manual dexterity, is required.
- Operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers/copiers.
- Must safely drive an automobile in all types of weather conditions.
Primary Location
- The primary location for this position is the Camp Fire Resource Center.
- Regular and predictable attendance in the office is an essential function of this position.
- Camp Fire does not waive the essential function by permitting duties to be performed remotely.
