Job Summary
Under the direction of the Dean of Applied and Industrial Technologies, the Coordinator of Applied and Industrial Technology Workforce Continuing Education Programs leads the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of workforce training programs within the assigned instructional division. The coordinator is responsible for advancing short-term workforce training, industry-recognized credentials, certifications, and career pathways that support regional economic and workforce needs.
The coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for planning, scheduling, promoting, and continuously improving workforce education programs. Responsibilities include identifying emerging workforce needs, maintaining program quality and compliance, monitoring outcomes, and ensuring alignment with North Carolina Community College System(NCCCS) requirements, industry standards, and College priorities.
Consistent with the Colleges One College model, the Coordinator of Applied and Industrial Technology Continuing Education Programs collaborates with faculty and staff, and business and industry representatives to create seamless educational pathways. Through these partnerships, the coordinator helps ensure that workforce training programs are responsive, accessible, high quality, and aligned with credit pathways, stackable credentials, employment opportunities, and the current and future workforce needs of Rockingham County and the surrounding region.

Job Duties
Program Coordination
- Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and delivery of continuing education workforce programs
- Support the development and revision of course offerings, short-term credentials, and training programs based on employer demand, labor market needs, and division priorities
- Maintain program documentation, course records, and scheduling data
- Coordinate instructional delivery formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online offerings
- Complete course set up forms
Industry and Partnership Support
- Support relationships with local employers, workforce boards, and community partners to promote workforce training opportunities
- Assist with advisory committee meetings and ensure feedback is documented and incorporated into program improvements, consistent with best practices in program development
- Support employer engagement efforts by assisting with needs assessments, program customization, and workforce solutions
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to align continuing education training with credit programs and stackable pathways
- Serve as a liaison between the division and workforce, employer, and community partners
Instructional Support
- Facilitate the recruitment and onboarding of credentialed part-time faculty
- Provide logistical and administrative support to faculty, including classroom/lab scheduling, materials coordination, and communication
- Monitor course implementation to ensure alignment with planned outcomes and schedules
- Teach employability skills classes, i.e. Pathway to Employment
- Teach workforce continuing education courses, seminars, training sessions, and/or curriculum courses based on credentials, expertise, and program demand as assigned
- Deliver instruction using appropriate modalities (in person, hybrid, online, accelerated or cohort-based)
- Develop or adapt instructional materials aligned with industry standards and employer expectations
Student Recruitment and Support
- Support outreach efforts, including recruitment events, marketing initiatives, and community engagement activities
- Assist students with registration, orientation, and navigation of continuing education programs
- Provide referrals to student services or career pathways as appropriate
Program Marketing and Outreach
- Collaborate with college marketing, and divisional staff to promote programs, courses, and training opportunities to target audiences
- Assist in the development and dissemination of marketing materials, including program flyers, social media content, employer communications, and website updates
- Support outreach efforts to increase enrollment, including recruitment events, information sessions, and community engagements
- Coordinate communication strategies to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent messaging to prospective students, employers, and partners
- Track and provide input on marketing effectiveness and enrollment trends to inform outreach strategies
Compliance and Reporting
- Maintain accurate enrollment, attendance, and completion records in accordance with NCCCS reporting and compliance review requirements
- Assist with tracking program outcomes, including credentials earned and job placement where applicable
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
Administrative and Operational Support
- Assist with budget tracking, purchasing of instructional materials, and equipment coordination
- Maintain inventory of program supplies and equipment for labs and training sites
- Prepare reports and assist with data collection for program evaluation and strategic planning
Public and Community Relations
- Represent RCC and the Applied and Industrial Technologies Division at community events, workforce meetings, and industry functions.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employers, school systems, and community partners.
- Support the promotion of applied and industrial technology programs within Rockingham County and the region.
Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate Dean, Vice President for Academic Affairs and/or the President of Rockingham Community College.

Qualifications
REQUIRED:
Associate degree in a related technical field (e.g., construction trades, machining, industrial technology, or engineering technology) or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in workforce training, industry, or program coordination
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience in North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) continuing education programs.
- Industry-recognized credentials (e.g., NCCER, NIMS, Siemens Mechatronics, or similar).
- Experience supporting customized training, short-term workforce programs, or grant-funded initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of workforce development and continuing education programming
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple schedules, timelines, and program logistics
- Ability to work collaboratively across academic, workforce, and administrative units
- Proficiency in data entry, reporting systems, and general office technology.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community organizations, employers, college personnel, and the general public.

Full-time employees participate in the North Carolina Teachers and State Employees Retirement System. State retirement is deducted at the rate of six percent; the state contribution varies dependent on market conditions. Contributions are tax sheltered for federal and state income tax purposes. Short-term and Long-term Disability benefits are available to eligible employees.
