Job Specifications

The City of Tallahassee is seeking a Workers Compensation Nurse Case Manager to join the Office of the Treasurer-Clerks Risk Management team. This position coordinates medical care for injured employees, supports return-to-work planning, and collaborates across departments to advance workplace health and injury prevention. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a cross-functional environment.

What you'll do:

  • Coordinate and oversee medical referrals, treatment, and care for a caseload of injured employees, including documenting and monitoring treatment. Communicate findings and return-to-work status to employees, supervisors, and Workers Compensation staff.
  • Interpret medical findings for employees and supervisors as they relate to work performance, job modifications, and disability. Recommend job modifications to accommodate temporary disabilities and support return-to-work planning.
  • Provide assessment, education, and counseling to minimize lost time and support recovery, and recommend actions that promote timely, safe return to work.
  • Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers to ensure quality, cost-effective care, and consult with occupational safety staff on workplace hazards and corrective measures.
  • Assist with claims review, guidance, and outcome evaluation, and serve as a resource for Risk Management staff in the review of injury claims and demands.

Minimum Training & Experience

Possession of an associate's degree in nursing and three years of professional experience in nursing, occupational health, or a related field.

or

Possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of professional experience, in nursing, occupational health, or a related field.

Necessary Special Requirements

A current Florida Nursing license is required at the time of application.

Note: Preference may be given to applicants with certification in Occupational Health Nursing or Case Management designations.

The successful applicant will need to obtain licensure in neighboring states (Alabama or Georgia) or obtain licensure through a reciprocity agreement within 90 days of appointment.

Salary Range

$21.6689 to $58.7999/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $38.98/hour.
