Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Workers' Compensation Case Manager to join our growing legal team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about helping injured workers navigate the workers' compensation process.

As a Case Manager, you will oversee cases from intake through resolution, working closely with attorneys, clients, medical providers, and insurance carriers to ensure every case progresses efficiently while providing exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation files from intake through settlement or resolution.
  • Work closely with attorneys to support case strategy and daily case management.
  • Prepare, file, and serve legal documents in compliance with Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) procedures.
  • Schedule Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME), Agreed Medical Evaluator (AME), and other medical appointments.
  • Coordinate with clients, physicians, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel regarding case status and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files.
  • Prepare and file Declarations of Readiness to Proceed (DORs) and other workers' compensation pleadings.
  • Request, organize, and review medical records and related documentation.
  • Provide regular case updates to clients while addressing questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely completion of all required case activities.
  • Utilize case management software and Microsoft Office to maintain case records and correspondence.
  • Support attorneys with additional administrative and legal tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 1 year of Workers' Compensation case management experience, or experience as a Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or Legal Secretary.
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience.
  • Professional-level bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Experience with:
    • WCAB procedures
    • EAMS electronic filing system
    • QME and AME scheduling
    • Filing Declarations of Readiness (DORs)
    • Medical records management
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal case management software.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to the office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a plaintiff-side workers' compensation law firm.
  • Familiarity with California Workers' Compensation laws and procedures.
  • Experience communicating with medical providers, insurance carriers, and WCAB offices.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills.
