Circus Coop is a worker-owned cafe just outside of Harvard Square. We are seeking compassionate, creative, and hard-working individuals with kitchen and/or barista experience who are interested in collective self-management.
Upon hiring, you will begin a six-month candidacy period, during which you will train on multiple stations, attend monthly general meetings, and get a feel for what it means to be a worker-owner. All members are entitled to a slice of our profits and equal voting rights on business decisions.
The minimum number of hours per week to be considered for worker-ownership is 21. Weekend availability is highly preferred, and we may be able to offer 1-2 regular days off per week to meet your scheduling needs. Our base hourly rate is $16.32 + tips (which usually average out to $6-$7/hr), with a guaranteed effective rate of $20.60.
Ideally, you already have some sort of experience with democratic governance and/or cafe management. If that's not you, but you are prepared to use your skills and dedication to take literal ownership of your work, we would love to hear from you!
