Overview:

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Workday Sr Program Manager at our Tysons, Virginia location.  The Senior Program Manager, Workday will lead planning, governance, and execution of PenFed’s Workday implementation across Human Resources, Finance, and Procurement. This role will coordinate business, technology, and implementation partner activities to manage scope, milestones, risks, dependencies, resources, and change readiness. The position requires strong program leadership, executive communication, vendor management, and stakeholder alignment skills to support a disciplined Workday deployment and successful adoption.

  • Lead the Workday implementation across Human Resources, Finance, and Procurement workstreams, ensuring coordinated planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Manage the integrated Workday program plan, including scope, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, resources, budget, risks, issues, and decision points.
  • Partner with business leaders, technology teams, and functional stakeholders to align priorities, drive decisions, and maintain accountability for Workday program outcomes.
  • Oversee Workday implementation partner activities, performance, deliverables, and issue resolution to ensure alignment with PenFed expectations, standards, and approved scope.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting, dashboards, presentations, and communications that summarize progress, risks, decisions, and escalations.
  • Facilitate governance forums, steering committee preparation, working sessions, and escalation pathways to support timely decisions.
  • Lead and coordinate organizational change management with the Workday implementation partner, including stakeholder engagement, communications, training readiness, adoption support, business readiness, and change impact assessment.
  • Coordinate delivery activities across Workday process design, configuration, integrations, testing, data conversion, deployment planning, and transition to support.

  • Identify and manage resource constraints, delivery risks, control impacts, and cross-functional dependencies; recommend mitigation plans and escalate issues as needed.

  • Promote standardization, compliance, documentation discipline, and sustainable operating practices throughout the Workday implementation lifecycle.

Qualifications:

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive program or project management experience leading complex, cross-functional enterprise initiatives.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing large-scale SaaS, cloud, ERP, HCM, Finance, Procurement, or similar enterprise platform implementations; Workday implementation experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing implementation partners, vendors, contracts, statements of work, deliverables, timelines, and issue resolution.
  • Experience leading governance routines, executive reporting, steering committee preparation, risk and issue management, and cross-functional decision facilitation.
  • Experience coordinating organizational change management, stakeholder engagement, communications, training readiness, adoption support, and business readiness activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex program information into clear executive-level updates and actionable guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders without direct authority, remove delivery barriers, and drive accountability across business and technology groups.
  • Experience in financial institutions or similarly regulated industries preferred.

  • Experience using AI tools preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees.

 

Licenses and Certifications

Preferred: PMP, CISSP, CISM, ITIL, or similar IT management certifications highly recommended.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on call maybe required. 

 

Pay Transparency
The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $84,700.00 - $170,529.00
This position is eligible for an organizational performance based annual bonus, subject to board discretion and approval.
This position is eligible for an individual performance based annual bonus.
