Title Work Study Marketing & Communications Assistant Position Description

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

BSU's Career Services and Internships Office engages with students and alumni to design career and life plans. We empower students to build confidence and professional skills through career advising, resources, programs, and experiential learning opportunities. We also facilitate career readiness and connect students with employment opportunities through partnerships with employers, faculty, staff, and alumni to achieve a lifetime of career success.

POSITION INFORMATION

As the Marketing and Communications Assistant, you will be a key member of our marketing team, contributing to a wide range of initiatives that enhance and maintain the Career Services & Internships office brand. This position offers exposure to digital marketing, branding, content creation, graphic design and social media management. This opportunity is designed for students passionate about marketing, communications, graphic design and social media who want hands-on experience in a collaborative, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Design:

  • Create engaging multimedia content (blog posts, newsletters, social media posts, fliers, videos) using Canva to align with branding

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and execute social media campaigns to promote office programs across various platforms
  • Write, schedule and analyze posts, and refining strategies based on performance
  • Conduct research on digital marketing trend to inform future campaigns

Event and Marketing Support:

  • Assist with event promotion and office program logistics
  • Provide general operational support for office initiatives
  • Live post during events, staying current with social media trends

Street Team

  • Represent the office by tabling at campus events and high-traffic locations to promote programs resources and upcoming events
  • Engage with students through face-to-face outreach, answer questions, and distribute promotional materials
  • Support campus-wide outreach campaigns to increase awareness, participation and student engagement

Duties assigned will be based on skills

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in Canva and prior experience managing social media accounts in highly preferred

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design English or related field

  • Requirements:

  • Enthusiastic about taking on new projects and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools and platforms as needed
